REVISION: a poem

I created a thing, so precious and pure,

but the tick of my heart was a little unsure.

As I prepared to present it for others to see,

something kept trembling and shaking in me.

Would they understand it? Would it be approved?

Would they hug me and tell me how deeply they’re moved?

But the thought that they’d answer with only a frown

created a quake and it all tumbled down.

Down to the ground and I fell by its side,

but as it came crashing, it broke open wide.

And inside these pieces were parts new to me.

And it just took a tumble for them to shake free.

Now I’m rebuilding, and lo and behold

I’ve created a new thing, bodacious and bold.
