Who am I?

Hi, I’m Chelsea!

I write books for kids!

That makes me a picture book author. But wait, there’s more!

I’m also a poet and a children’s educator with a master’s in Education.

I am rep’d by Jen Rofé at ABLA.

My debut picture book, WALTER, is set to release in April, 2022 with Feiwel & Friends/Macmillan. Also forthcoming are ODE TO A BAD DAY, a rhyming picture book (Chronicle, 2023), a second rhyming picture book with Chronicle, a picture-book project ghostwritten for a public figure (Random House, 2021), and a picture-book ghostwritten for a family’s viral story (Feiwel & Friends/Macmillan, 2021).

I have a poetry blog on Instagram @chelsealinwallace

I tweet about writing and books on Twitter @chelseaauthor

I am a proud member of SCBWI and the 12×12 Challenge.

I am a wife to Michael, a mama to Charlee, and a pet mama to Lucky  & Fudge.

We reside in sunny Los Angeles.

I graduated from Colgate University in upstate New York before heading out to California. I worked in the digital marketing world for many before becoming an educator. It was when I was teaching young children creative writing that I realized I needed to take my passion seriously and pursue my dream professionally.

I’m not fully living until my toes are in the sand and I’m breathing in the sea.  The beach never gets old for me (probably because I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan). Brrr!

I’m an animal advocate and activist. I can’t even squish a bug.

I’m an old soul. I drench myself in Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell and feel at my core I was born in the wrong decade.

I’m left-handed, a Libra, an Xennial, an empath, and the middle child.

I’m a constant and forever daydreamer.

I’m sensitive and believe vulnerability is brave.

I love nothing more than teaching and learning from kids! You can book me for author visits (in-person or virtual) this way:
